Background | AMH is one of the best indicators of ovarian reserve function. Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) is a 140 kDa hormone; A homodimeric glycoprotein linked by disulfide bonds, a member of the transforming growth factor-β family (TGF-β) of the growth and differentiation factor superfamily, first discovered by Profess Alfred Jost in 1947. In males, AMH is secreted by immature sertoli cells of the testis, and in females, AMH is secreted by granulosa cells of preantral and small antral follicles of the ovary. AMH is involved in the degeneration of Mullerian duct. |
